Facilitate formal education opportunities to help children learn better and longer.

Prayatna works to provide education to every child especially the poor to build a better future for them and help them get equipped to contribute towards the growth of the society. We provide remedial education, promote holistic education, help develop 21 st century skills amongst children, build essential school infrastructure (like drinking water, toilets, IT labs, Science and Math labs, sports facilities etc.), conduct teacher’s training, promote sports and other activities and conduct policy and advocacy work for improving Govt. school education system.

Education is the primary solution to problems like poverty, malnutrition etc. that underprivileged people are currently facing. Literacy thus requires a lot of attention.

Prayatna has been working towards providing education to every child especially the poor to build a better future for them and get equipped to contribute towards the growth of the society. With its various programmes, it is reaching out to the grass-root level to strengthen the education system, spread awareness about the importance of education and enroll as many children as possible. Prayatna is continuously working in various states to ensure that the most underprivileged children are back to school and get empowered through education.

Donate Now and help Prayatna in advancement of this noble cause of spreading awareness about the education so that these children can have future full of opportunities.

The most beautiful thing about learning is that no one can take it away from you but in India the school education is not a highly effective source of teaching due to the huge number of students present in a single classroom. Prayatna is constantly making efforts for imparting education and provide children with multiple opportunities of learning. It is also taking measures to improve the surroundings, for the children, for they can learn better.

1. SCHOOL INFRASTRUCTURE: Muzaffarpur, Bihar: Prayatna partnered with Nitya Bal Vikas, (a Germany based organization) to work for SCHOOL INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT in Muzaffarpur, Bihar. The object of the project was to provide Basic facilities to the students so that they do not drop out because of the fundamental infrastructural problems. The programme was conducted in nine govt. schools of Muzaffarpur district. They were Rajkiya Madhya Vidyalaya, Aganagar, KanyaPrathmik Vidyalaya, Purshottampur, PrathmikVidyalaya, HathiTola and Rajkiya Madhya Vidyalaya, Muraul, Primary School, Bharthi Pokhar, Rajkiya Madhya Vidyalaya, Mathurapur, Rajkiya Madhya Vidyalaya, Jamaruha and Primary School, MathurapurPurvi. Community meetings were organised with parents of children of the schools with villagers, Panchayat Representatives, Headmasters and teachers. Unfortunately, the SMCs were not functional in most schools. Each school had an individual work plan basis which work was carried out, type of work included repairing verandas, classrooms, floors, fixing new windows, painting of classrooms, setting up library, securing electricity supply, providing fans, bulbs, water pump etc. For example, the library in Upgraded Middle School, Muraul was 250 books, two bookshelf, four fans, four bulbs, four carpets and a water motor pump. In Middle School, Bharthi Pokhar especially established for children of S.C. community Prayatna provided two fans, two bulbs and two carpets.

Haridwar, Uttarakhand: Prayatna has recently partnered with Indian Sugar Exim Corporation Limited to benefit 500 underprivileged children of The Paradise Academy, Budhwa Saheed, Dist. Haridwar, Uttarakhand with state of art infrastructure and quality education. The objective of the programme is to transform existing schools to exemplar centres that will set high standards in their locations, to provide high quality holistic education to children, to facilitate them to emerge as productive assets and set the foundation for nation building. To build sustainable systems with full community support.

2. THINK TANK: It is an initiative taken by Prayatna, it strives to provide access to education to every child belonging from any strata of society and not depriving them of the birth right. Education Policy Institute of Bihar (EPIB) has been set up in Patna, the capital of Bihar, as a think tank for improving the status of Education in Bihar. The vision of EPIB is that all children of Bihar including those enrolled in the government schools have equal access to inclusive, equitable and high-quality learning. Its mission is to assist policy makers and educational bureaucracy to take evidence-based and data-driven policy decisions for improving educational governance so as to create better and more equitable schools. Moreover, it will be providing research-based policy recommendations and necessary guidance for effective implementation. Besides the policy makers and implementers, it also aims to make its insights accessible to the citizens. For more details visit- https://www.biharedpolcenter.org/about

3. FREE REMEDIAL CLASSES: One of the pioneer projects of ours in the field of Education is to provide FREE Remedial classes. Our aim is to make education accessible to the children of most marginalised sections of the community with the best remedial classes. Currently we are running a centre in a village which is 20 KM away from Muzaffarpur. We are working to make the students the students ready for matriculation exams. We provide quality classes rather than just having a quantitative number to show. In 2018-19 a non-formal education space was created in Jahangirpuri in North Delhi for children out of school. More than 200 children from mainly rag picker families have benefitted from it. The idea there is to provide grade level knowledge to them before putting them into formal school systems in the neighbourhood.

4. FINANCIAL LITERACY: According to a global survey, about a staggering 76% of Indian adults do not understand basic financial concepts and are unfortunately financially illiterate even today. The survey confirms the financial literacy rate in India has been consistently poor as compared to the rest of the world.

Prayatna has been implementing Vodafone Foundation Jadugini ka financial literacy programme pan India, where we have reached to over 5000 beneficiaries. The financial literacy training is conducted with audio visual content. Topics covered under financial literacy programme are- Basic Financial Concepts, understanding expenses and savings, Borrowing, Basics of Banking, Managing risks, Investments, Financial Planning, Mobile wallets and Government schemes.
